Pilley’s designs for Highfield Court (1935) included furniture designed by Finnish designer Alvar Aalto and it is possible that this collaboration continued in later projects. But Pilley was an interior designer and furniture designer in his own right. He was also a prolific inventor who designed, marketed and commissioned the manufacture of practical and useful products, from de-cluttering and space-saving gadgets to sturdy, wooden children’s educational toys.
Pilley was a MSIAD (Member of the Society of Industrial Artists) and the Institute of Inventors.
